Solar Development
Why partner with GEM Energy for solar?
GEM Energy is #20 in the 2023 Solar Power World Top Solar Developers in Ohio (for projects completed in Ohio). Nationally, we are in the 2023 top 100 Solar Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) firms.
As a NABCEP certified installer, we have developed solar projects in multiple states: Ohio, Michigan, New Jersey, New York. GEM Energy is a participating commercial/industrial contractor for NYSERDA in New York and an approved Illinois Power Agency vendor and contractor. Our turn-key solar development means we manage everything from incentives, funding/financing, and permitting through design/build and interconnection to ongoing maintenance.
GEM Energy’s process focuses on a best-in-class, automated installation system to produce the lowest cost solar solutions. Customers range from utilities, municipalities, commercial businesses, and manufacturing to higher education. By selecting well-integrated technologies, we design a specific, optimal solution based on the electrical usage and demand capacity of your specific business.
Significant energy savings with no or low upfront capital
With solar, your business, university or municipality can achieve significant savings on electricity costs over the life of your system. Typical project payback is 5-10 years and after-tax returns for solar can be 15-25 percent. Let us show you how a lease or solar power purchase agreement (PPA) can reduce your total cost of operations with little or no out-of-pocket capital.
Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) federal legislation expands incentives for Solar
Signed into law in 2022, the IRA significantly expands the incentives and improves the economics of solar for businesses and non-profit organizations.
- The Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) is now 30%. With additional incentives available, this credit can increase up to 50%. Ask us how!
- Provisions under the IRA allow municipalities, educational and other non-profit organizations with a solar project to receive the equipment amount of their IRA tax credit as a direct payment from the federal government. (Learn more about the IRA here).
Ohio businesses interested in exploring how incentives can make solar and battery storage affordable and increase energy resiliency while lowering utility spend can find more information on our Ohio-specific solar landing page.
