Rudolph Libbe Inc. served as the Design-Build contractor for a state-of-the-art 223,606-square-foot manufacturing facility with a 29,565-square-foot office for Rolled Alloys in Maumee, OH. The project involved relocating existing equipment and integrating new machinery, with rigging handled by GEM Inc. Despite pandemic-related delays, Rudolph Libbe and architect Ghafari overcame inflation and supply chain challenges to deliver the project efficiently. Strategic collaboration with partners like Bohl Crane helped streamline procurement of critical components.
The new facility expands Rolled Alloys’ capacity to produce high-performance metals for industries such as aerospace, marine, and power generation. Located on a 45-acre site in Northwest Ohio, the project preserved 175 jobs from the company’s former Temperance, Michigan location and added 25 new full-time positions. This investment reflects Rolled Alloys’ commitment to long-term growth and its role as a key contributor to the region’s industrial economy.
Designed with both functionality and aesthetics in mind, the building features a modern office space that encourages collaboration through open meeting areas. Initial concerns from neighbors about the building’s appearance were addressed with the Varco Pruden Vee Rib wall system, which offers a clean, attractive design that blends into the surroundings. The process building includes a durable split-face masonry wall and a steel structure engineered to support heavy equipment loads.
Inside, 12 bridge cranes—ten 10-ton single-girder and two 25-ton double-girder—enable efficient material handling, all equipped with collision avoidance systems for safe simultaneous operation. The roof system features Varco Pruden SSR panels with energy-efficient insulation and Superblocks, contributing to the building’s sustainability. Together, these elements make the Rolled Alloys facility a standout example of industrial innovation and thoughtful design.
