Hollywood Casino Construction
Penn National Gaming operates dozens of facilities across the United States and Canada. Rudolph Libbe Group began work on Penn National’s Hollywood Casino in Toledo, Ohio in 2010. This 285,000-square-foot facility is located on the bank of the Maumee River and built on a refurbished 44-acre brownfield site. In addition to indoor and outdoor gaming, restaurants, and live entertainment areas, the casino has a post-tension, multi-level covered parking structure to accommodate 2,400 vehicles.
Our total approach delivers faster and saves money
As one of the single largest contracts in the history of Rudolph Libbe Group, the ability to self-perform multiple construction services — concrete, masonry, site work, mechanical, electrical and structural steel — ensured the casino was built on a fast-track basis with a phased guaranteed maximum price (GMP) to accommodate the design schedule. Design began in March 2010 utilizing BIM and was completed in May of 2012.
Energy-efficient fixtures and special insulating features save 5 million kW in electricity and reduced water usage of nearly 2 million gallons. A FlexSet building automation controls system was also installed to make monitoring and adjusting facility heating and cooling in multiple public zones worry-free for building managers.
I would be remiss if I failed to acknowledge the terrific construction team from Rudolph Libbe and its many subcontractors. You delivered this project on time, and you met your promises, allowing us to meet and even exceed our ambitious goals for participation by unions, by minority- and women-owned businesses, and by local companies.
