Whirlpool Assembly Line Installation
Over the last eight years, Whirlpool has trusted GEM Inc. to handle construction projects to increase manufacturing capacity at both the Clyde and Findlay, Ohio locations. Most recently, GEM installed a new washer assembly line at the Clyde facility. “Line 7” is critical to Whirlpool’s business because it produces a new washing machine model.
GEM installed Line 7 — consisting of 820 feet of conveyance — in the existing Whirlpool plant in just six weeks, within the projected budget using 10,000 man-hours with zero safety incidents. On-time completion was imperative to the project success as production had stopped on the previous model to allow time for installation of the new washing machine model line.
Because of our knowledge and history working in the plant and on multiple other production lines, the project work was able to start prior to completion of the final drawings. Hiring another contractor without experience at the facility could have resulted in lost production and the project being weeks behind schedule.
Key project elements:

- Packaging line
