The Toledo Club celebrated a century in its iconic downtown building with an upgrade that increased energy efficiency and enhanced the beauty of the elegant interior. GEM Energy has been providing maintenance services for over a decade, so we knew the building well.

In the Red Room, dimmable soffit lighting and LED lighting in the antique bar highlight the room’s rich décor and increase energy efficiency. In the Belvedere Room, a new lighting system controls the LED fixtures and provides seven settings to match the mood of events ranging from weddings to business meetings.

New HVAC units replaced 30-year-old units, and a new 80-ton condensing unit was installed on the roof. A GEM Energy FlexSet building automation system cools and warms rooms on schedule and controls parking lot lighting.

The Club relied on assistance from GEM Energy to secure PACE financing for this project. The 15-year fixed loan covered costs associated with this comprehensive building energy retrofit.  PACE funding covers 100 percent of a project’s costs and is repaid through a building assessment on property taxes, helping to preserve the owner’s capital budget and operating funds.

The Toledo Club is 125 years old, and our 100-year-old building is a community treasure. These updates will improve our members’ comfort, reduce our utility costs and complement the historic features of our building – our artwork, paneling, painted ceilings and parquet floors.
