Midwest Tape Headquarters and Warehouse Design/Build
Midwest Tape’s new headquarters serves as a distribution center and hub of content creation and tech innovation. Midwest Tape repackages more than 13 million CDs, DVDs and audiobooks annually, selling to libraries around the country. It also distributes, produces and publishes media digitally.
Growing a business with more functional space
The media distributor’s leaders envisioned a building and location that would foster creativity and innovative thinking, while meeting the needs of their growing business. Rudolph Libbe Group was hired as the design/build contractor for the new 135,000-square-foot facility. We first worked with company stakeholders to assess their current workflow and business direction, then developed a space that improves efficiency and will accommodate future growth.
The Varco-Pruden pre-engineered steel facility houses 100,800 square feet of warehouse space and a 34,560-square-foot office. The wooded campus offers a beautiful setting for employees and room for the company to grow.
Unique features of the project include:
- Climate controlled warehouse/processing area
- Two sound studios
- Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR) fire protection system
- LED lighting
- Insulated metal wall panels and standing seam metal roof
- Prismatic skylights
- Three truck docks and parking for over 300 vehicles
Not sure if this is the RLG A-team, but don't know how you could top them. Tough project, especially for site development, and they were within one to two weeks of the original schedule. RLG's value lies in some key people and the fact that they are able to handle a large percentage of the work inside their organization and have sub-contractors who work consistently with them and know the expectations.
