We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Specialist to join our safety team at Rudolph Libbe Inc. in Walbridge, OH. As a Senior Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting and assisting the company, its associates, and subcontractors in achieving safety excellence by helping to identify existing and potential safety risks on current and upcoming projects, providing training, and performing site visits to check that safety regulations and company policies are consistently implemented company wide. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of cultivating a culture of safety excellence through active and visible commitment.
 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify potential and existing hazards and help develop workable solutions while ensuring compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Provide timely assistance and consistent interpretation of company safety policies/procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with preconstruction, planning, project kickoff meetings and preparation/review of hazard analyses, task planning, etc.
  • Assist in the review, development, and presentation of safety training programs.
  • Maintain open communication with safety personnel from other contractors/subcontractors.
  • Actively participate in the incident review and investigation process.
 

SKILLS

  • Ability to engage, communicate and positively influence others
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in conducting thorough investigations of incidents and near-misses.
  • Quick and effective decision-making skills in high-pressure situations, coupled with the ability to solve safety-related issues as they arise on construction sites.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Availability for shift work, travel, and out of town assignments. 
 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Candidates should have 6-8 years construction safety experience with experience managing safety on large, complex projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • CHST certification or similar preferred.
  • Experience with developing and delivering safety training.
  • Knowledgeable in construction procedures and processes.
