Penguin Beach includes an underground viewing area, with a viewing deck attached to the aquarium, a 20,000-gallon pool and an exhibit walkthrough with a bridge over the pool. Three floor-to-ceiling panels create a feeling of being underwater with the penguins.

A 729-square-foot “life support” building houses the exhibit’s complex mechanical systems, and 560-square-foot holding building is used for tending the penguins.

The exhibit gives the penguins a natural setting. A gentle wave pool mimics the ocean. The beach area includes pebbles, sand and Gunite. A waterfall leads to a shallow stream that runs through Penguin Beach.
